HOUSE INTRO - Scents of Wood
Share
Scents of Wood is a modern niche fragrance house founded in 2020 by Fabrice Croisé with a mission that’s genuinely different: make wood the soul of the fragrance, not just a note in the base. Headquartered in Utah, the brand draws direct inspiration from forests, barrels and the living character of wood itself. From the very beginning, Scents of Wood set out to rethink how fragrance is built at a foundational level.
What defines Scents of Wood is its barrel-aged alcohol process. Instead of using neutral ethanol, the house ages organic alcohol in barrels sourced from places like Scotland, Kentucky and Cognac. That alcohol absorbs the character of the wood before it ever touches the fragrance oils, becoming an active ingredient rather than a silent carrier. The result is added depth, warmth and texture that shows up consistently across the line. Fragrance names reflect this dual construction, pairing a dominant note with the wood used to age the alcohol.
Despite the innovation, Scents of Wood remains highly wearable. The fragrances range from warm and boozy to bright and uplifting, all unified by a smooth, polished wood backbone. Launched during the pandemic as a direct-to-consumer brand, the house has since expanded into boutique retail while maintaining its craftsmanship-first mindset. It’s a house that feels thoughtful, intentional and quietly groundbreaking without needing to shout about it.
Joe A.’s Starter Pack
Plum in Cognac
Juicy plum and warm spices wrapped in boozy richness and smooth woods. Deep, cozy and one of the house’s most beloved crowd-pleasers.
Oud in Bourbon
Dark woods, spices and a touch of sweetness layered over barrel-aged warmth. Bold but refined, perfect when you want richness without harshness.
Neroli in Acacia
Bright citrus and floral neroli softened by creamy wood undertones. Fresh, uplifting and a great example of how Scents of Wood handles lighter profiles.
Scents of Wood proves that innovation doesn’t always mean complexity. Sometimes it’s about rethinking the fundamentals and letting the materials speak.
