WHY???

WHY???

Big elephant in the room: Why do people readily compare anything close to Aventus, with Aventus? Yes, I know, I know, the common reason is that Aventus is so popular, but that can't possibly be all of it because there are many other really good frags out there! I think it's because Aventus by Creed has gained such legendary status in the fragrance community, for several reasons:

1. Versatility: Aventus is known for its versatility, suitable for various occasions and seasons. Its fresh, fruity opening and woody base make it wearable year-round.

2. Compliments: Many people report receiving compliments when wearing Aventus, making it a desirable fragrance for those seeking positive attention.

3. Signature Scent: Some individuals have adopted Aventus as their signature scent, further solidifying its reputation, however.....

4. Longevity and Projection: Aventus used to be known for its longevity and projection. This has faltered somewhat in recent times...

5. Prestige: Creed, the brand behind Aventus, has a long history of producing luxury fragrances, adding to the prestige associated with wearing Aventus. However, recent revelations puts all that into question....

Because of these factors, Aventus often serves as a benchmark against which other fragrances are compared. But, it can't be that simple because there are many frags that meet or beat the above criteria.

What say you, Guys? Is Aventus still worthy of benchmark status? If not, are there any frags that you do consider benchmark worthy (Naxos for tobacco honey frags or Angel's Share for boozy frags) Or are we stuck in that yesteryear (2010) scent profile of pineapple, smoky birch goodness, unable to breakaway?
