Xerjoff Decas Review

Continuing with the Back to School theme, today’s frag: Xerjoff “D”-ecas. Trying to pull up my grade here, so I’m going with this under-the-radar gem from the house of Xerjoff.
This house has some true bangers so I’m hoping this’ll do the trick! Decas celebrates 10 years of Xerjoff fragrances and is the latest addition to the 1861 line. An ambery citrus scent, let’s see what we got!!
Launched in 2021, the nose behind this fragrance is Chris Maurice, who's known for some famous frags like Nefs from Nishane and Methexis from Manos Gerakinis, as well as the House of Kemi, before it was assumed by Xerjoff.
Initial test sprays reveal a high citrus and tuberose scent. I decided to go heavier with 8 sprays across shoulders and chest. On the opening, I get a bright citrus accord followed with a tuberose note that provides a bit of a floral and sweet bit around the edges. The floral is not so strong into feminine territory, balancing the sharp citrus edges from the onset.
I also get a thread of tobacco that starts in the opening and transitions the scent into the mid. Here, I pick up a warm sweet note mixed with a touch of earthy, almost balsamic, flavor. The scents mix and play off each other nicely, neither overpowering each other.
The blend goes evenly between fem. and masc. equally, making this a very unisex scent profile. Projection for Decas started soft and quickly comes in close.
In the dry down, vanilla and musk provide a solid base for the other notes. The citrus and tuberose from the opening can still be picked in the dry down and blends to give an overall sweet, floral ambery scent profile. There is not one element that’s stronger than any others. Transitions between stages are gradual and smooth, with high quality ingredients known and expected of Xerjoff.
Decas is a very unique scent, something I can’t really compare with anything. Projection is soft to close. Longevity is 6 or so hours on my skin. I see this working for all seasons, but it really blasted when I went out in the hot humid air of SW Florida! Good for office and casual outings, but not a good date night fragrance. Not powerful enough for clubbing.
Xerjoff Decas (EDP) 100ml. Retail 245 EUR, My Cost 125 USD
Final Verdict: Xerjoff Decas is an Oriental Floral fragrance that’s zesty yet warm; a well balanced, unisex fragrance. Projection and longevity are underwhelming while longevity is below average too. A great smelling, unique scent that gets an “A” for effort, but just doesn’t cut it. Joe Average take: Ahhh college, best seven years of my life! I’m sure I could use this fragrance during some part of it, but there’s just too many other, better scents out there to attract those hot sorority girls! Leave this one to the frag enthusiasts!
Score 6/10 TOGA, TOGA,TOGA!!!
