Xerjoff Uden Review

Xerjoff Uden Review

Hey Gents, Joe A. here with another one for ya'! I'm trying to stay warm in these colder days so anything that reminds me of summer will be most welcome! Today's frag: Xerjoff Uden. So, not long ago I reviewed Xerjoff Nio, a very citrusy summer scent. Today I wanted to follow up with Uden because although they are different scents, they have some similarities. Like cousins. Both are really good warm weather scents!

So what number of sprays is a good number... the short answer, it depends! Depends on fragrance strength, body chemistry, weather and humidity, I could go on. That's one of the main reasons I mention how many sprays I use, to give you a kind of gage to compare against. For Uden, I went with 8 across shoulders and chest. Right from the get-go, Uden is strong and can fill the room. However, its top heavy citrus is tempered with a vanilla sweetness. The ingredients smell quality and they feel well blended. It does have a strong projection and I think that if you overdo it, you may become nauseous. So, less is more.

In the mid, Uden is nothing short of gorgeous! I actually pick up a bit of rose, a bit of a booziness, and it mixes with the vanilla in a very even, smooth, almost sensual way. With that, I'm thinking Uden leans more to nighttime use. There's still fresh undertones, but the rough, sharp citrus edges are gone.

In the dry down, the tanginess from the citrus is taken over by the slight woodiness and touch of ambergris. The vanilla is more pronounced and helps anchor the scent. The powdery freshness from the mid sticks around, but plays more of a supporting role.

I have to admit, it's very interesting that I picked up that many different notes with Uden. The smell is rich but not heavy, a bit refreshing, in a more reserved kind of way. Projection is moderate and doesn't go soft until well into the dry down. Longevity is beast mode, I got 10+ hrs. This scent could be used year round, but favors the night. In fact, I said that Uden and Nio could be cousins, well I say Nio could be used in the daytime, then you could layer Uden for nighttime! So versatility is above average, I'd say.

Xerjoff Uden 50ml: Retail 235 EUR, My Cost 145 USD

Final Verdict: Xerjoff Uden is an excellent sweet freshy that evokes visions of summer night parties on decks (preferably near water) Pleasing and agreeable, Uden can be used in multiple seasons and has great versatility. Strong projection and great longevity. Joe Average take: If you can get this around or close to the 100 USD mark, it is well worth the buy. Just like it's cousin, at that price point, this is a great add for a Joe Average collection! Bonus points if you have the combination! Score 10/10
